Fox slides past ruins,
    tucked into the canyon walls,
        silent as the snow.

Dunlins probe quickly -
   waves slide in, out, with a hiss -
      who is chasing whom?

   The sky, full of stars,
specks in an immense cosmos.
   A moth seeks nectar.

Red leaf on the pond.
    Something, unseen, moves below,
making the water murky.

A shiver of wind
   caresses raspy green leaves,
      shading the orange squash.

Art Deco hallway,
shadowed, quiet now.
   Is that my breathing?

tired laughter
beneath curling smoke;
rats skitter past our feet.
