Another snow storm.
Even more parked bicycles
      plow bent on their racks.

Snow slides off the roof -
   a white waterfall crashing
      on one green grass blade.

   Pre-dawn light on snow -
a deer steps into the yard.
   We share the moment.

One shutter bangs, bangs, bangs
   letting winter enter
      the broken, grimy window.

   Ice shimmers on the street,
mirrors the stars in a cloudless sky
   as I bicycle home tonight.

Pedal through splintered ice
    then a small lake, in potholes.
Brown water hisses under me.

Sun on snow.
   Birds crowd the feeder
      as the cat chitters, frustrated.
