Ice shimmers on the street,
mirrors the stars in a cloudless sky
   as I bicycle home tonight.

Pedal through splintered ice
    then a small lake, in potholes.
Brown water hisses under me.

Neon lights roaring
on a scene of desperate joy;
    then, a man sneezes.
