Somewhere in melting snow
   a cricket sings -
unseen.

Rocking horse,
dapple-grey with kind, knowing eyes.
Moon-lit dust motes float.

Dragon tails of ice
silently swirling -
      Christmas Eve.

Red-eyed raptor -
distracted
     by a butterfly.

Swirling leaves
          rustle, rise, fall,
   by lichen-covered boulders.

Tangled archway
    shadows the trail -
        juniper caresses oak.

Touching above the trail:
Pale juniper berries,
yellow oak leaves.
